In 2007 the True Taste Wales Food and Drink Awards launched the ‘Contribution to Sustainable Development‘ (C2SD) award. EDC was commissioned to develop this new award and judge the finalists from all categories.
The C2SD award is presented to a True Taste finalist that not only produces a product that satisfies taste criteria but also, through its products, services, people, processes or packaging, demonstrates a sustainable approach to its practices that ultimately benefits the environment.
Environmental and social issues are increasingly seen as opportunities to drive business efficiencies and achieve growth. This, coupled with a growing consumer demand for more ethically conscious products and services, means that Welsh food and drink companies must embrace sustainable business practices to survive.
Responsible brands enjoy good publicity and improved customer perception. Addressing key environmental impacts of packaging and production brings cost savings, regulatory compliance and competitive advantage – ultimately leading to more sales.
